Barron Creations was started in 1990 by John Barron as a sole proprietorship specializing in forged and fabricated ironwork. While expanding it's scope and intensity, it remains a one man operation. John learned his trade from an Italian trained smith in a union iron-working shop in Oakland, California during the 1970's and 80's. In 1988 he and his wife, Dolores moved to the Sierra Nevada foothills where John worked for the oldest continually operated blacksmith shop in Northern California. In 1990 John rented the shop and began his own business. It was about this time that he became involved with the California Blacksmith Association and ABANA (Artist Blacksmith Association of North America) and began to realize a much greater potential for working with hot metal. Since then, for John it has become a fascinating journey of learning, experimentation, and growth. While designing virtually all of his work, John always enjoys the challenge of creating to enhance the entire space as well as capture the unique personality of his client.
Barron Creations is now located at John and Dolores' home in Georgetown, California. John's work can be found in private homes, businesses, restaurants, churches and schools throughout the Sierras, the Sacramento and San Francisco Bay Areas.
